RMAC has partnered with three arts
education programs, which are offered to our schools free of charge.
-
The Riverside Symphony Music Memory Program:
Teaches children how to listen and respond to music critically and
intelligently and is designed for grades 3 through 6.
The Program includes creative presentations and
positive motivations specifically designed to enhance the development of
students’ social skills as well as their self-esteem and intellectual
capacity.
-
NYC Opera Program:
City Opera’s Education programs
give students of all ages the tools to appreciate opera and its relationship
to the world in general as well as to their own experiences. Students are
introduced to such works as Portman’s The Little Prince, Donizetti’s
Don Pasquale, and Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Through RMAC’s
sponsorship the City Opera program is brought to our schools and, with the
help of a teaching artist, the students may then create their own opera.
-
New York
City Center Dance Program:
Education
at New York City Center introduces students from
kindergarten to grade 12 to the performing arts through
dance and
musical theater performances as well as in-school performance workshops.
Using the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the
Arts, as well as the New York State Standards in the Arts, English
Language Arts
and Social
Studies, the Center’s Education Program allows
classroom
teachers
to draw on the styles, genres and cultures of a particular
work of art from the current New York City Center season.
